Celebrating the New Snow King Mountain Resort

Bank of Jackson Hole (BoJH) is proud to support Snow King Mountain Resort in their largest expansion effort in the resort’s 83-year history.  The new gondola, backside lift, beginner terrain, snowmaking and more facilities coming next year have enhanced this community gem of a ski mountain.

Anna Cole, BoJH SVP of Marketing, took a few gondola runs (did you know the ride time to the top is only 4.5 minutes?) while Dawn Pruett, incoming BoJH President chatted with Ryan Stanley, General Manager at the King, about the improvements.

BoJH has a long history of working with Snow King and has offered financing over the years to support their vision and business goals.

As Dawn noted when we took a tour of the new offerings, “this project truly symbolizes BoJH’s commitment to our community. We are here to support the long-term sustainability of our town, its businesses and nonprofits, and Snow King provides beloved year round recreational opportunities for our locals and visitors alike.”

BoJH: Are you seeing more business now with the improved lift capacity?

RS: The word has yet to spread about all the changes we have made, still no lift lines at the King!  People are coming out on a daily basis and discovering new terrain for the first time.  We hosted a free ski day earlier this week to show off the new lifts and terrain and had some great feedback.

BoJH: Tell us about the planned building at the top of the gondola?  When will it be open?

RS: We are hoping to open the new summit facility late winter 2023 or possibly summer 2023 and it does not yet have a name.  We hope to have the bathrooms in the new building available for use next winter ski season.  The building will contain a bar and restaurant, gondola maintenance space, ski patrol space, and ski school space as well as some expansive decks to enjoy the views. Currently the Panorama House is open serving drinks and snacks.

BoJH: You hosted a naming contest for the new runs, which names were picked?  Did you have a lot of participation in this crowdsourcing contest?

RS: We had a lot of participation on our Facebook page for naming ski runs and ultimately picked Yeti, Wolverine, and Way Home from the suggestions we got on social media, loosely sticking with the animal theme we have going for the ski runs.  We still have some more locations and runs to name so we may reach out to the community again for ideas.

BoJH: How has Bank of Jackson Hole helped support your expansion?  Do you think using a community bank made a difference?

RS: BoJH has been a great supporter of all our plans and we greatly appreciate their confidence in Snow King Mountain Resort.  The flexibility and understanding of having local community bankers who we know has made things easier from the start to completion of our projects.
